The Town of Maple Creek and CUPE Local 2714 have reached a tentative three-year agreement after an emergency bargaining session with a provincial mediator. CUPE National Representative, Dave Stevenson, says the town removed their harmful concessions, changing hours of work, making changes to sick leave accrual and eliminating monetary allowances.
Prior to this agreement Maple Creek administration had sent notice that it planned to lock out the municipal employees on Thursday. The union’s ratification vote is October 19th and the Town Council will consider the matter at their October 26th meeting.
