The Government of Saskatchewan has assigned an independent observer to oversee an investigation into an in-custody death incident that originated in Prince Albert on October 5 and ended in Saskatoon on Tuesday.
Around 3:10 a.m. on October 5, Prince Albert Police officers attended to a disturbance at Victoria Hospital in which a 29-year-old man went into medical distress.
Because of the seriousness of his medical condition and distress, the man was transferred to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, where he was pronounced deceased on October 12.
The Prince Albert Police Service’s Criminal Investigations Division and Forensic Identification Section are continuing to investigate.
