The NDP is urging the province to reach out to neighbouring provinces and accept the federal government’s offer to bring in personnel, to allow treatments and therapies for Saskatchewan’s most vulnerable children.
This is in light of news that these treatments and therapies have been suspended because staff have been redeployed to respond to the number of people in the hospital with COVID-19.
Education and Early Years Critic Carla Beck says occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, child psychologists and physical therapists have been redeployed and since the suspension of most services at the Kinsmen Children’s Centre in Saskatoon and Wascana Rehab in Regina, families say there has been a devastating impact on kids with medical conditions and complex needs.
Beck wonders why the Premier doesn’t pick up the phone and ask for help when the offer is out there.
