The expected spike in new COVID-19 cases in Saskatchewan following the Thanksgiving Day long weekend has yet to show up in the daily dashboard readings on the provincial government’s website.
The latest update showed 312 new cases of the novel coronavirus, three fewer than reported on Thursday, with the seven-day average for new cases dropping below 400 for the first time since September 13 at 380. Coupled with 238 recoveries and Saskatchewan’s active case count is up by 70 from Thursday to 4,364. From that number, 339 individuals are hospitalized, including 78 infections being treated in an I-C-U. There were also four new COVID-19-related fatalities for a provincial total of 773. Over 2,300 of the 4,159 doses of vaccine administered Thursday were received by residents now considered to be fully vaccinated while 2,561 tests for the virus were administered as well.

- 4,364 cases are considered active and 68,525 cases are considered recovered
- More than one-quarter (27.6%) of new cases are in the age category of 40 to 59
- Almost one-quarter (23.1%) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 12 years and older) were fully vaccinated
- As of October 15th, a total of 339 individuals are hospitalized, including 261 inpatient hospitalizations and 78 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 339 patients, 256 (75.5%) were not fully vaccinated.
- Four (4) new deaths reported today. 773 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died, with a case fatality rate of 1.0%.
- 1,186,010 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of October 13th, 2021, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 999,874 tests performed per million. The national rate of 1,176,830 tests performed per million population.
