A Saskatchewan patient with COVID-19 was transferred today to an ICU in Ontario. Saskatchewan’s Provincial Emergency Operations Centre is coordinating with the Saskatchewan Health Authority and the Ontario Critical Care Command Centre on the transfers. Another ICU patient will be transferred each day on Saturday and Sunday.
The PEOC has confirmed that Ontario has capacity to receive up to nine additional patients early next week, with the possibility of three each day Monday through Wednesday. A news release from the PEOC says the transfers are contingent on several factors including ICU capacity, a clinical assessment, and severe weather, so final numbers may change.
