Nolan Maier (pictured) stopped 37 shots as several streaks were continued in Friday’s 5-2 Saskatoon Blades victory over the Pats in Regina.
Maier was solid, and brilliant when he needed to be, in winning his 95th career game. He was named the game’s first star, in part for a series of four rapid-fire close-in saves off Cole Dubinsky and Connor Bedard in the third period when the result was still in doubt. Dubinsky and Bedard, who ended a five-game goal-less drought, were the only Regina players to solve the Yorkton product. Meanwhile, five different Bridge City Bunch skaters scored goals, none of them named Tristen Robins or Kyle Crnkovic, as the 5-1-1 Blue and Gold won their third straight game, gained points in the standings for a sixth consecutive contest and scored at least four times for a sixth game-in-a-row. The 2-6-0 Pats have lost six straight. The same teams play Sunday afternoon at SaskTel Centre. Defencemen Spencer Shugrue and Pasha Bocharov each registered their first career W-H-L goals while forwards Brendan Lee, Trevor Wong and Egor Sidorov found the back of the net behind Matthew Kieper. Sidorov has scored goals in three consecutive games. Robins had two assists to regain sole possession of the league points scoring lead with 15. The San Jose Sharks’ second round pick in the 2020 N-H-L Draft has posted multi-point games in all six games he has played in. Crnkovic had a helper to give him points in all seven Blades’ games this season. Game time Sunday is 4 p.m. with the broadcast beginning at 3:30 on CJWW. Following is Les Lazaruk’s post-game show interview with Saskatoon head coach Brennan Sonne, along with the game summary courtesy the W-H-L…..
