The Official Opposition reports that a recent Saskatchewan Health Authority Physician Town Hall indicates that 17 kids are in the hospital with COVID-19 and 15 are under 12, meaning they are ineligible for protection from vaccines. The provincial NDP would like to see more provincial funding to school divisions to support needed resources to keep the students safe.

Education Critic Carla Beck says, “Schools need every penny they’ve got in normal years, never mind during a pandemic.” The NDP also reiterates calls for closing isolation loopholes in schools and childcare settings, vaccination requirements for school staff, a roll-out plan and registry for vaccines for kids under 12, and clear thresholds for cohorting, hybrid and online learning.
