It’s not a combination your would normally think of, but at TCU Place on Saturday night the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra mashes with the flamboyance of drag. Thorgy and the Thorchestra will perform with the SSO. Thorgy showcased her talents on two seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race, which is where she shared her aspirations of leading an orchestra. Thorgy is also a professional violinist and cellist, and she and her orchestra are touring North America bringing the classical and drag worlds together.

SSO Music Director Eric Paetkau says, “It will be an outrageously fun evening full of jokes, audience participation and incredible music.” Because Halloween is getting closer, Paetkau invites everyone to don their costumes and enjoy the show, which will include seasonal hits like Monster Mash and Thriller. The Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra is kicking off its pop season with this presentation. Paetkau says along with Strauss’ Blue Danube and Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, there will be plenty of pop including hits from Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder.
