Canada’s minister of public safety and emergency preparedness, Bill Blair sent out a series of tweets last night (fri) saying that the Canadian government has approved Saskatchewan’s request for federal assistance in regards to the strain on hospitals and ICUs by COVID-19. Blair’s tweet says quote “The Canadian Forces will provide communities the support they need to fight the pandemic.” The federal government is also in talks with the province to provide additional Red Cross supports. Blair says they will have more to say about the situation in Saskatchewan “shortly”.
We are also in talks with SK to provide addtl @redcrosscanada and other health resources. @redcrosscanada has been on the ground helping communities fight the pandemic in our provinces and territories, incl. as part of an ongoing deployment in Alberta.
