Nineteen Saskatchewan I-C-U patients have been transferred to Ontario as of Wednesday. Wednesday’s COVID-19 dashboard update on the provincial government website indicated that those 19 transferred I-C-U patients were in addition to the 57 still in a Saskatchewan hospital I-C-U. In total, there are 271 people with a positive novel coronavirus case being treated in a provincial hospital. Otherwise, Wednesday’s update had 223 new cases of COVID-19, five new virus-related deaths and 316 individuals recovering. That leaves 2,440 active cases while 2,608 people received COVID-19 tests on Tuesday. As well, 2,985 doses of vaccine were administered Tuesday with 2,033 of those shots making the recipient full vaccinated.
As of Wednesday, there are now 19 Saskatchewan ICU patients being treated in Ontario. Saskatchewan’s Provincial Emergency Operations Centre says four more transfers are planned for Thursday, three for Friday, and one each on Saturday and Sunday for a total of 28.
The PEOC says daily out of province transfers are anticipated to decline and will happen more intermittently because of the decreases in Saskatchewan ICUs and the lower COVID-19 numbers across the province, as well as the arrival of additional federal resources and increased capacity within the health care system.
