On the same night the Winnipeg ICE had their season-opening winning streak come to an end, so, too, did the Saskatoon Blades see their positive ways conclude, falling 4-3 in Lethbridge.
The Bridge City Bunch appeared to be headed for a sixth straight victory after one period when Jayden Wiens scored his first two goals of the season to give the Blue and Gold a 2-0 lead and Kyle Crnkovic added his team-leading eighth tally to restore the two-goal advantage. But, it was all Canes after that with Justin Hall scoring the winning goal 71 seconds into the third period to give Lethbridge a third straight home-ice win, improving their overall record to 5-3-0. While the Blades opened the scoring for a fourth straight game and the eighth time in 10 contests this season, plus tallied on the power play for an eighth consecutive game, they couldn’t avoid their first regulation time loss since opening night in Moose Jaw. Saskatoon’s record is 7-2-1 and they’ll try to start a new positive streak Saturday night when they complete a two-game, weekend road trip into Alberta in Medicine Hat. Game time is 7 p.m. with the broadcast on CJWW beginning at 6:30. Following is Les Lazaruk’s post-game chat with Bridge City Bunch head coach Brennan Sonne, plus the game summary courtesy the W-H-L…..
