Two provincial ministries are reporting public losses in the second quarter of the fiscal year. An internal audit from the Highways Ministry found three instances between 2016 and 2019 where an employee was reimbursed for travel expenses from the Federal Government for out-of-province conferences, in which the expenses had been charged to a government-issued card. The employee was suspended for five days and transported out of the program area. The entire amount, $3,452, was recovered from the employee.
The Ministry of Environment reported that an employee submitted time cards which included time not worked for a total of $4,366.77. The employee was fired and about $1,200 is left yet to be paid back.
