An eventful opening practice of the week for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and not in a good way!
Veteran centre Dan Clark left the session after rolling his ankle. Slotback Duke Williams left the workout with a hamstring that was bothering him. Fellow slot Kyran Moore was getting his knee looked at Tuesday, so he wasn’t available and the severity of the injury is still unknown. Ricardo Louis was back with the first team in his place. Defensive end A-C Leonard also left practice early Tuesday but there’s no update on his status. Leonard was named the second of the three C-F-L performers of the week for his performance in Montreal. In addition, Kian Schaffer-Baker was back with the starting receivers Tuesday, rotating with Justin McInnis while Mitch Picton was with the second unit. Schaffer-Baker was listed as a back-up on the depth chart against the Alouettes.
Next up for the Green and White, after clinching a playoff spot in Montreal last Saturday, is claiming a second place finish in the West Division and the right to host the semi-final game. The Riders visit Edmonton on Friday.
Meanwhile, in addition to Leonard, who set a new career-high with eight tackles en route to the Green and White’s 19-14 victory in Montreal, Hamilton quarterback Jeremiah Masoli was named the C-F-L’s top performer of the week today along with Toronto kicker Boris Bede in the third spot.
