The 2021 Red Ribbon campaign from MADD has kicked-off for another holiday season. Bonny Stevenson, President of the MADD’s Saskatoon Chapter says from now until January 3rd, they will be working with law enforcement and other community partners to distribute red ribbons and red car decals to discourage people from diving under the influence this holiday season. She adds there are a number of ways to get home safe.
“Get dropped off at the party or if you’re going to the pub, that why then there’s no temptation to find your keys and drive. Plan that ride whether it’s a friends that’s going to come pick you up or it’s a cab or you’re calling mom or dad.”
The red ribbons from MADD Canada symbolize a person’s commitment to driving safe and sober and to also serve as a tribute to those injured or killed in impaired driving crashes. According to MADD, every hour – on average, 10 impaired driving charges and short-term license suspensions are laid in Canada.
