Nolan Maier (pictured) achieved a personal milestone Friday night with style.
The 20-year-old Saskatoon Blades’ goaltender recorded his 100th career win, stopping 46 shots in the process, as the Bridge City Bunch squeeked by the Wheat Kings 2-1 in Brandon. The Yorkton product was solid to brilliant, only to be denied a second shutout this season and 11th of his W-H-L career by Ridly Greig’s goal with 8:48 left in the third period. That followed Blue and Gold power play goals from Aidan De La Gorgendiere and Tristen Robins and a successful kill of a 5-on-3 Wheaties’ power play for 1:53 early in the third period. Oh…and Nolan Maier stopped 46 shots, including 13 from Greig, for his 100th career W-H-L win…all with the Blades! Saskatoon improved to 11-4-1 for 23 points, seven back of the Winnipeg ICE. That’s who the Blades play the next two evenings…Saturday at 7 o’clock and Sunday at 5, with CJWW’s broadcast starting a half-hour earlier with the Pre-Game Show. Following is Les Lazaruk’s post-game show interview with head coach Brennan Sonne and the game summary courtesy the W-H-L…..
