Saskatchewan Conservation officers paid a visit to Sylvia Fedoruk School on Tuesday after the kids there began to wonder what a Conservation Officer does.
A young moose crashed through the glass and into the classroom at the school a couple of weeks ago. Conservation officers tranquilized the moose, a team carried it to a waiting truck and it was transported out of the city where it was safely revived and released.
Conservation officer Chris Maier explained to the students the role of conservation officers in protecting the environment and some of the unique situations they can be involved in. He also gave some tips on what the students could do if they encounter wildlife in the city.
Sergeant Wilde and School Resource Officer Richards from the Saskatoon Police Service were also there to talk a bit about what police do, and their role in public safety.
The Saskatchewan Association of Conservation Officers gave the children, who were in class when the moose paid a visit, a stuffed moose souvenir.
