After the onslaught of rain in British Columbia last week causing mudslides and flooding, there is more rain in the forecast. During a virtual update from the federal Ministers responding to the emergency in B.C., Emergency Preparedness Minister Bill Blair said there is another atmospheric river, this time along the north coast which is expected to hit the south coast today, where the recovery is just in its beginning stages from last week.
Blair says because of some clearing in the weather of the past couple of days, there has been some improvement and a receding of the waters, but he adds, “We are not out of the woods yet, and to be very clear, we remain concerned about all rain events in the region simply because the ground is quite saturated.
It was reported during the update that major suppliers say fuel supplies have temporarily been stabilized, rail companies are optimistic some lines will open by mid week, and Canadian Armed Forces have arrived to help out.
