Any protests near hospitals must now be outside of a 50-metre perimeter to ensure people accessing these Saskatchewan facilities, such as health care workers, patients and families, can do so without being delayed or harassed.

The provincial legislature passed an amendment Wednesday to create and enforce safe access zones around hospitals. The amended legislation does not apply to lawful labour picketing. The safe access portion will expire in two years.
