The Saskatchewan NDP had been calling for the public health orders to be extended, so the Official Opposition is on board with the government’s announcement that the orders would remain until at least the end of January. Deputy Leader for the NDP, Nicole Sarauer, says it’s welcome news. They are happy to see the government listening to the advice of of the Chief Medical Health Officer.

Sarauer would have like to have seen the government heed Dr. Saqib Shahab’s advice earlier in the year, with the rising numbers of COVID-19 in the fourth wave of the pandemic. Sarauer says the NDP will continue to monitor the situation and bring forward concerns if the circumstances change.
