The provincial government is encouraging unregulated home-based child care providers to become regulated with the Ministry of Education so more families can access the significantly reduced child care fees. Education Minister Dustin Duncan says it’s a quick process for home-based providers to become regulated and then they qualify for additional funds to lower fees for the families they support.
Earlier this month the federal government and the province announced funding for regulated facilities through a fee reduction grant, which would reduce the amount parents pay by about half on average, retroactive to July 1st.
