The Tim Horton’s Canadian Olympic Curling Trials continue and wrap up today at SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon. The nine women’s teams and nine men’s teams from across the country that started the event last weekend have been pared to five women’s and three men’s teams for the playoffs. The eventual winners will represent Canada in four-person team curling at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China in February. Among the nine men’s teams taking part was the Matt Dunstone foursome from Regina. They finished the round-robin with 3 wins, 5 losses…tied for 5th place, but out of the playoffs.
9 a.m. first women’s tie-breaker: Kerri Einarson, Gimli, Mb. 8, Casey Scheidegger, Lethbridge, Ab. 6
2 p.m. second women’s tie-breaker: Krista McCarville, Thunder Bay 4, Einarson 3

7 p.m. women’s semi-final: Jennifer Jones, Winnipeg 8, McCarville 3
The New Holland World Juniors Qualifying Event finished yesterday at the Granite Curling Club in Saskatoon. The winners of today’s junior women’s and junior men’s finals will represent Canada at the World Junior Championships, March 5th through 12th in Sweden.

1 p.m. men’s final: Nova Scotia 10, Newfoundland 9

(Kick-off time is 3:30 p.m. at Mosaic Stadium. The winner advances to the West final on December 5th at Winnipeg. The Riders finished the regular season with 9 wins, 5 losses for 18 points…good for 2nd place while Calgary ended up with 8 wins, 6 losses for 16 points…good for 3rd place.)
