The Saskatoon Police Service plane helped in the arrest of a man allegedly evading police in a stolen vehicle. Around 4 Wednesday morning, officers noticed a stolen vehicle in the area of 112th Street West and Central Avenue. When police turned their emergency lights on, officers say the vehicle began driving erratically through Sutherland Park and speeding on residential streets, so the decision was made to stop the pursuit.
Following guidance from the Air Support Unit, Patrol officers deployed Stop Sticks in the vehicle’s path, disabling it near the intersection of Central Avenue and College Drive. Police report the suspect then fled on foot to Carleton Drive, where he resisted arrest, but was ultimately brought into police custody.
The 35 year old man is facing charges related to possession of stolen property over $5,000, dangerous driving, evading police, and resisting arrest.
