Saskatchewan is reporting 78 new cases of COVID-19 Friday. Eighteen of the new infections are in the Saskatoon zone while Regina accounted for 16 of Friday’s new cases. 744 cases are considered active. One new death was included in the daily update bring the pandemic death toll to 929 in Saskatchewan. 136 people are in hospital with the virus, 34 of which are in intensive care. There are also another four Saskatchewan residents receiving care in Ontario ICUs. The seven-day average for new infections is now at 64.
Below are the highlights posted to the Government of Saskatchewan’s website:
- As of December 3rd, there are 78 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 81,225 reported cases
- The new cases are located in the North West (5), North Central (12), Saskatoon (18), Central East (8), Regina (16), South Central (2) and South East (14) zones and three (3) new cases have pending residence information
- Two (2) cases with pending residence information were assigned to the Far North East (from November 21 (1)), and North West (from December 1 (1)) zones
- Two (2) SK residents tested out of province were added to Central West (from December 1 (1)), and Central East (from November 30 (1)) zones; one (1) case was added to Saskatoon zone on November 17, 2021
- One (1) case was removed from Saskatoon zone on November 17, 2021
- 81,225 cases are confirmed
- 19,831 cases are from the North area (8,818 North West, 8,176 North Central, 2,837 North East)
- 19,362 cases are from the Saskatoon area
- 15,866 cases are from the Regina area
- 10,204 cases are from the South area (2,191 South West, 2,976 South Central, 5,037 South East)
- 9,353 cases are from the Far North area (4,397 Far North West, 541 Far North Central, 4,415 Far North East)
- 6,076 cases are from the Central area (1,438 Central West, 4,638 Central East)
- 533 cases have pending residence information
- 744 cases are considered active and 79,552 cases are considered recovered
- Over one-quarter (29.5%) of new cases are in the age category of 5 to 11
- Just over one-third (33.8%) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 5 years and older) were fully vaccinated
- As of December 3rd, a total of 136 individuals are hospitalized, including 102 inpatient hospitalizations and 34 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 136 patients, 90 (66.2%) were not fully vaccinated.
- In addition to SK ICU counts, there are four residents receiving out of province care in hospital. As these patients are receiving care out of province, this number is not included in the hospitalization counts in the dashboard.
- One (1) new death reported today. 929 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died, with a case fatality rate of 1.1%.
- 1,284,263 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of December 1st, 2021, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 1,083,864 tests performed per million population. The national rate was 1,281,193 tests performed per million population.
- The 7-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers was 64 (5.3 new cases per 100,000)
