The fall sitting of the legislature has wrapped up and the official opposition says it highlights the cost of Premier Scott Moe’s failures in the wake of the fourth wave of COVID-19.
The NDP accuses the Sask. Party government of choosing to prioritize their own political considerations rather than listen to patients and medical professionals.
They say the government’s choices led to hundreds of deaths, an overrun health care system and thousands of people going without care.
Meanwhile, the governing Sask. Party says the fall session fulfilled the government’s commitments. Scott Moe pointed to a drop in cases after the belated imposition of a vaccine passport and reinstatement of some earlier public health protocols. The government also highlighted today’s announcement to alleviate the surgical backlog and cited the rebound in Saskatchewan’s economy.
In addition, they made special mention of a motion to amend the Saskatchewan Act and Constitution of Canada, described as relic of an earlier time. And, which if repealed, the government says, will level the playing field for all businesses while supporting Saskatchewan’s autonomy.
