They didn’t want to give the Moose Jaw Warriors any points in the standings, but Tristen Robins (pictured) and the Saskatoon Blades made sure they didn’t get two!
Robins ended an eight-game goal-less slump, beating Carl Tetachuk from point-blank range, off a pass from Kyle Crnkovic, just 35 seconds into overtime to give the Bridge City Bunch a 5-4 victory Tuesday night in Moose Jaw. Following a scoreless opening period, the Blue and Gold scored four of six goals in an explosive second frame, including the first career W-H-L hat-trick for sophomore winger Brandon Lisowsky, and appeared on the way to victory. But, the Warriors responded with two unanswered third period tallies to force extra time, including Martin Rysavy’s marker with 1:26 left and Tetachuk on the bench for an extra attacker. Robins’ O-T tally made a winner our of 17-year-old Austin Elliott in his W-H-L debut in goal. Elliott stopped 35 shots. Jayden Wiens had the other goal for the 14-11-1 Blades as they jumped into a tie for second place in the East Division and fourth spot in the Eastern Conference with the 13-13-3 Warriors and Brandon. Saskatoon has games in hand on both rivals and can jump ahead of them Wednesday night with a positive result against the first place Winnipeg ICE, making their first visit of the season to SaskTel Centre. Game time is 7 p.m. with CJWW’s broadcast starting at 6:30. Following is the game summary, courtesy the W-H-L, and Les Lazaruk’s post-game show interview with head coach Brennan Sonne…..
