The province’s Lieutenant Governor announced today that hand-knit wool toques are being donated to the North Central Family Centre in Regina and EGADZ in Saskatoon.
Russ Mirasty says, “We are thankful to The Campaign for Wool Canada, a patronage of His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales for involving us in this special project.”
The hats were knitted during the inaugural Canadian Wool Month Knit-Along in October.
The Knit-Along was co-sponsored by the Canadian Guild of Knitters which challenged wool enthusiasts across the country to create toques made from 100% Canadian wool for those in need of warm clothes this winter.
As a show of thanks to the knitters, each hat donated awarded its creator a ticket in a prize raffle, featuring wonderful woolly prizes from Sykes and Ainley Woollens of Glen Williams, Ontario (sykes-ainley.ca) and Briggs and Little Woollen Mill of Harvey Station, New Brunswick (briggsandlittle.com).
