The new wellness centre and shelter, being operated by the Saskatoon Tribal Council, wasn’t able to open on Monday as hoped.
The STC issued a statement yesterday indicating that until the HVAC inspection has been approved, they can’t open. The building, intended to house 50 people over the winter months, needs to meet the air circulation and exchange requirements as set out in the city building application.
In a news release Tribal Chief Mark Arcand said, “We will follow all safety measures related to fire and health codes. We want to do this right”
STC will notify everyone when the Wellness Centre opens and provide information on contacts, intakes, and donations.
The forecast is showing the temperature falling Wednesday to -20 degrees Celsius and remaining between -20 and -25 degrees Celsius through till next Monday.
