The Government of Saskatchewan is expanding the booster dose program for COVID-19 vaccine to all individuals who are 18 and older, three months from their second dose of vaccine.
This will go into effect on December 20 which is Monday.
To date, after the last announced expansion of the booster dose eligibility, uptake was 38 per cent for the third shot. More than 159,649 vaccines were administered as a third dose to eligible residents.
Residents are also being urged to pick up rapid test kits that are available free of charge to be used as a surveillance tool in the pandemic.
Over 8 million have been distributed to date with an additional 4 million on the way.
Premier Scott Moe says, “As we head into the holiday season, I would ask the people of Saskatchewan to pick up a rapid test kit to have on hand in their household as another tool in the toolbox, and to book their appointment for a booster dose to continue preventing severe outcomes as we continue our fight together against COVID-19.”
In light of a new international travel advisory issued by the federal government, Saskatchewan residents are encouraged to observe all local public health orders if travelling and are expected to fully comply with the testing procedures upon arrival and departure.
