Prime minister Justin Trudeau says the federal government says some pandemic programs are being temporarily extended due to the omicron COVID-19 variant.
Trudeau provided details on some of the programs
“For the Canada Worker Lockdown Benefit and the Local Lockdown Program you will be able to apply if you are subject to capacity limiting restrictions.”
He says sectors like arts and culture, hospitality and tourism will be the main benefactors.
If you are an employer which has to reduce the capacity of your main business by 50 per cent or more you will be eligible for wage and rent subsidy support.
They are also lowering the revenue declined threshold from 40 per cent to 25.
The proposed expansion is in effect as of last Sunday, and will run to February 12th.
