Five people have been arrested and are facing numerous firearm related offences. The Saskatoon Police Service says the arrests are in connection to a weapons complaint early in the morning on Wednesday, where the public was told of extra police presence in the 800 block of Appleby Drive.

First, officers responded to the 1600 block of 37th Street West where they were told a 26 year old man had threatened a 22 year old woman with a gun, then fled the scene in a vehicle with a stolen wallet and cell phone. About a half hour later, the police plane located a vehicle matching the description and two stolen vehicles in the 800 block of Appleby Drive in Meadowgreen. Police were told five people had gotten out of one of the vehicles and entered a suite in a nearby apartment.

The Tactical Support Unit secured the scene and around noon, five people came out and were arrested without incident. Police say keys for two vehicles, numerous firearms and ammunition were seized. Three men and two women were arrested and charged.

A 26 year old man is facing 19 firearms-related charges as well as charges of using a weapon while uttering threats, uttering threats to cause death, assault, possession of stolen property over $5,000, theft and breach of conditions.

Two men, 24 and 25 years old, facing 19 firearm possession-related charges, as well as charges of possession of stolen property over $5,000 and breach of conditions. Two women, 21 and 31 are facing 11 firearm possession-related charges, possession of stolen property over $5,000 and the 21 year old is also charged with breach of conditions.
