The ongoing incident two days ago in the 200 block of Avenue L North is now an unlawful confinement and aggravated assault investigation.
The Saskatoon Police Service says around 6:45 a.m. on Monday they were called to the 3200 block of Preston Avenue, by Paramedics with Medavie Health Services West who had responded to a report of a woman with injuries.
Paramedics determined her injuries were consistent with assault. Investigating officers learned the woman had reportedly been held in the basement of a house, against her will, since January 6.
Police, including members of the Tactical Support and Guns and Gangs Units, were directed to a home in the 200 block of Avenue L North. Three people eventually came out but a 27-year-old man remained inside. About 13 hours later, assisted by the Canine Unit, the lone remaining occupant was taken into custody.
A 27-year-old man and a 26-year-old man face charges of Unlawful Confinement, Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Uttering Threats of Death, and Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000.
