Because of the increase of COVID-19 cases in Saskatoon Public Schools, a letter has been sent to parents, detailing how the division is dealing with it. The letter which was posted by a parent to social media states that there have been as many positive cases from January 4th to 12th as there were in the first four months of the school year.

In-class learning remains, although to address staffing challenges, the school division is reassigning educational staff from other positions to act as substitutes in classrooms. Staff is also being redeployed from other support positions to fill in for caretaking and administrative staff.

Saskatoon Public Schools states in the letter that if several cases are reported in a classroom, class may be temporarily moved to remote learning. In collegiates, a specific class may be cancelled for the day, if a substitute teacher can’t be assigned. Contracted bus and taxi service may be disrupted due to driver absences, and families with a child who requires 1-on-1 educational assistant support may be asked to keep their child home for the day if a substitute EA cannot be assigned to fill the absence.
