BHP has released operational review for the half year which ended December 31st, including the latest update on the Jansen potash project in Saskatchewan. The report says the international mining company’s potash projects under development are tracking to plan. The Jansen shaft project is 98 per cent complete.

Stage 1, which includes the design, engineering and construction of the underground mine and surface infrastructure is 3 per cent complete. In August BHP announced it would be going ahead with the first phase of the mine in eastern Saskatchewan. It’s expected to produce about 4.35-million tons of potash a year. At the time, BHP announced approving $7.5-billion Canadian in capital expenditure for the project.
