The Saskatoon Public Library has unveiled their schematic plans for the new central library in downtown Saskatoon. The updated design includes floor plans for each level along with other key details that will be included in the new public facility. The final public consultation is scheduled for Wednesday, January 26th at 7 p.m. via Zoom. Those interested in taking part can register by visiting splconnect.ca. During the consultation event, participants will view a presentation and share their feedback and ideas with the project team. The project remains on budget at $134 million dollars.
At the end of the schematic design process, SPL received two independent Class C cost estimates indicating the design is within the $73.3 million dollar construction budget. For the estimates, inflation and COVID-related increases to construction costs were taken into account. The new central library is schedule to open in 2026. The final design of the library will be unveiled later this year.
