A report heading to the Governance and Priorities Committee today (Mon) highlights that more City staff have tested positive for COVID-19 in 2022 than the entire pandemic. The report states that 202 City employees have had to self-isolate since the new year. That marks 64 per cent of all staff who have contracted the novel coronavirus since the pandemic was declared nearly two years ago.

City administration is also recommending that the City suspend its COVID-19 framework when it comes to addressing the local spread of th virus. This is because the framework was established during the height of the Delta wave and it was at a time when the province had no restrictions in place. As for mitigation efforts, administration is recommending that the City follow provincial public health orders and consult with local health officials when it comes to addressing COVID-19 transmission.

If the recommendation is approved today (Mon), it will head to City Council at the end of the month.
