Federal Conservative leader Erin O’Toole says he plans to meet with truckers who are traveling in a convoy to Ottawa for a protest this weekend, but not with the actual organizers, and not on Parliament Hill. O’Toole explains that he will try to have conversations outside of the Hill core so it can be done effectively.

He believes this convoy has become a symbol of the fatigue and division we are seeing in Canada. When speaking Thursday night in Ottawa, his request for Canadians frustrated by the convoy, and people who may not yet be vaccinated, to work together as a country, and not give up on anyone. He says, “Let’s come together like we did in the first wave of this pandemic, with compassion, with the ability to overcome the frustrations we all feel.”

The truckers will rally on Parliament Hill Saturday against vaccine mandates for drivers, which prevents some from crossing the border with the U.S. The U.S. has the same mandate. (CJGX)
