Truckers who didn’t make the week-long trek out to Ottawa to join the protest in the nation’s capital today (sat), will instead be bringing their own convoy to the streets of Regina. Starting at 11:30 this morning, Regina Police say a convoy of trucks will be entering the Queen City, eastbound on the southern portion of Ring Road, before turning northbound onto Albert Street and ending at the Legislative Building. Police advise motorists to avoid the area and expect delays. A parade permit has been issued and local police has been in contact with event organizers.

Some protestors started making their way into downtown Ottawa yesterday afternoon in preparation for the demonstration on Parliament Hill. Truckers are protesting the vaccine mandate put in place by the federal government for truckers crossing the international border and other public health orders.

Federal Conservative leader Erin O’Toole says he plans on meeting with truckers, but not the actual organizers. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was deemed a close contact to someone who tested positive for COVID-19 and is in isolation this weekend.
