It’s my Parting Shot to say thank you!…..
…..and to apologize that my 15 minutes of fame is turning into several days!
I’m somewhat embarrassed that the occasion of my 2,000th Saskatoon Blades’ broadcast last night has become this North American-wide celebration that social media has fanned the flames of by a lot more than it should have!
My 42-plus years of being in the sports media has been about gathering and reporting the sports news, sprinkled with my opinions on what is going on. I’m not comfortable being a news-maker, but I guess when you hit milestones for longevity, being a news-maker becomes part of the territory!
There are a lot of thank yous to give out…and I don’t have enough time to do it in this feature. Trust that I will get to all of you with a text, direct message, Facebook messenger, phone call, Zoom call…whatever method you reached out to me with, I will respond!
Eventually!!
The biggest thank you goes out to my wife Verna. While 2,000 is a big, round number, so is 30 years of marriage…a milestone I proudly achieved with Verna on February 1st…a day before Game 2,000 behind the Blades’ play-by-play microphone!
Needless to say, the wedding anniversary is a much bigger deal to me! But, my time and service to listeners and viewers and readers is up there in a strong second place!
That’s my Parting Shot. I’m Les Lazaruk…..
