Changes could be coming to a part of Circle Drive. A report heading to the City’s transportation committee Monday recommends that some sort of barrier be installed on Circle Drive between Attridge and College Drives. This comes after four fatal accidents have taken place on that portion of the freeway since 2016.
Three of those accidents were head-on and involved a vehicle crossing the median. Ward 3 Councillor David Kirton requested City administration develop a report on how fatal collisions could be avoided on that stretch following a fatal accident in January of last year.
Other options for the committee to consider are a complete redesign of the area or to move forward with no changes. If approved at the committee level and at City Council, the project would be added to the City’s transportation infrastructure list for future prioritization.
