Saskatoon City Council will debate lifting some COVID-19 restrictions, pending the provincial government’s decision to remove measures. A special meeting of City Council is set to take place at 10 o’clock tomorrow (tues) morning.

City administration is proposing that the proof of vaccination/proof of vaccination policy at civic facilities be eliminated once the province decides to do so. City staff is also recommending that the wearing of face-masks remain in place for city facilities, but not Saskatoon Transit.

For those taking the bus, masks would be recommended but not required. Measures that may remain in place include enhanced cleaning, physical distancing, and the requirement that people don’t enter City facilities if they’re displaying symptoms of COVID-19.

City Administration also recommends that a monthly report goes to Governance and Priorities Committee starting in March, with a written COVID update that includes a recommendation on whether or not to continue requiring masking for those accessing all City facilities.

This comes as the provincial government has hinted public health orders will come to an end in the not-too-distant future.
