The Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 400 block of Avenue L North late yesterday afternoon. The call came in at 5:04 p.m. and the first responding firefighters reported flame and smoke showing from the building.

The fire was located in the basement and fire crews began knocking the fire down by 5:16 p.m.

The Fire Investigator examined the scene for cause and origin and and at this time the cause is undetermined but they do know the fire started in a basement bedroom.

Damage is estimated at $20,000.
