Craik R-C-M-P and emergency services personnel remain at the scene of the initial collision on Highway 11 between Girvin and Davidson.

That happened at about 3:15 a.m. Thursday and was followed by several other collisions and vehicle roll overs due to extremely icy road conditions. As of now, Craik R-C-M-P are asking motorists on Highway 11 between Girvin and Davidson to drive with caution and note that traffic is being guided through by officers, so significant delays should be expected.

The first collision involved a semi and a second, stopped semi. A third semi then collided with them which led to the semis catching fire. The drivers reported minor injuries. Around the same time, but about five kilometres south of the initial crash, a semi collided with a second, parked semi that was stopped on the road. One driver wasn’t injured, but the other was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries. In the meantime, a Davidson Volunteer Fire Department truck rolled over attending to one of the collisions. Two fire fighters were in the truck, one was uninjured and the other was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries. There were reports of several other motor vehicle collisions in the early morning hours Thursday according to Craik R-C-M-P. They add that conditions on Highway 11 have improved significantly since the morning.
