Spiritwood RCMP say they investigated after receiving a report that a man had entered a home on the Pelican Lake First Nation and pointed a gun at several youth then proceeded to go outside and shoot the firearm. No one was injured.

This happened last Wednesday on February 9th.

A warrant was issued for the arrest of Gaiton Sakebow, 32 years old, of Leoville and Spiritwood RCMP actively began searching for him. A week later, this past Wednesday, officers located Sakebow at a home on the First Nation.

The RCMP Critical Incident Response Team assisted and Sakebow was safely arrested.

He is facing nine charges in connection to the initial incident, an additional count of resist/obstruct peace officer in connection to the arrest and was wanted on six other warrants, which were from the Spiritwood RCMP, Big River RCMP and Prince Albert Police Service.

He is in court Friday.

As a result of the investigation stemming from the February 9th incident, Gaiton Sakebow (DOB: 1989-10-13) of Leoville, SK was charged with:

– 1 count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(2), Criminal Code

– 1 count, possession of a firearm/prohibited weapon while knowing possession is unauthorized, Section 92(3)(a), Criminal Code

– 1 count, pointing a firearm, Section 87(2), Criminal Code

– 3 counts, fail to comply with probation order, Section 733.1(1), Criminal Code

– 3 counts, fail to comply with release order, Section 145(5)(a), Criminal Code
