SaskPower is stringing power lines over Circle Drive near the Preston Crossing open air shopping centre on Family Day weekend.

The Crown corporation is aiming to do the work when traffic volumes are lower in hopes of minimizing traffic impacts and that being said, intermittent traffic delays will be necessary.

The 20 million dollar power line is part of upgrading the Preston Crossing substation. Work on the line was delayed as they went through the process again of getting a subcontractor. That happened late last year.

The project will allow SaskPower to meet the growing demand for power in the areas served by the substation, including the University of Saskatchewan.

The project upgrade will continue on Sunday on Circle Drive between Preston Avenue and 108th Street at 5:00 a.m. Detours will be in place. Motorists will be required to slow down to 60km/h. This project is expected to take 14 hours to complete

Project restrictions include:

-Circle Drive southbound will be closed for approximately 30 minutes at 5:00 a.m.

-Circle Drive northbound will be closed for approximately 30 minutes at 6:00 a.m.

-108th Street exit ramp to Circle Drive will be closed

-Circle Drive northbound and southbound median lanes at the Train Bridge lanes will be closed

-Preston Avenue eastbound offramp to Circle Drive southbound will be closed

-Attridge Drive westbound left turn bay to Circle Drive southbound will be closed
