The 35 year-old man who was shot by Saskatoon Police during an altercation in the Pleasant Hill neighbourhood on Wednesday appeared in court today (fri). Ronald Herman is facing two counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, one count of pointing a firearm and breach of probation. He is due in court again on March 10th.

On Wednesday, officers responded to a report of an armed man at a home in the 200 block of Avenue L South before the noon hour. Police say the caller reported that a physical altercation took place at the door to the home before the suspect fled on foot armed with a handgun and machete. The responding officers found the man and a “confrontation occurred resulting in police firing several shots.”

Regina Police and two independent observers are investigating the officer-involved shooting.
