Prairie Harm Reduction’s Executive Director is moving to Metis-Nation – Saskatchewan as its Homelessness Manager.
The PHR Board thanks Jason Mercredi for his excellent stewardship of the organization, which under his leadership, brought in Saskatchewan’s first safe injection site.

The Board says PHR experienced unprecedented growth and development, offering new programming for Saskatoon’s at-risk citizens.

Kayla DeMong has been promoted from Associate Director to permanent Executive Director.

Mercredi says seeing how Saskatchewan has embraced Prairie Harm Reduction over the last nine years, he is content with his time at the organization, and he is excited to take on the new challenge with MN-S, addressing homelessness in rural, remote and northern settings.

Mercredi has worked in community based organizations for over 17 years. Among his successes, he is a co-founder for Canada’s National HIV Testing Day, and he wrote the policy to introduce safer smoking supplies into Saskatchewan needle exchanges.

He also advocated for the provincial expansion of the take home naloxone program in 2019 and opened Saskatchewan’s first Safe Consumption Site in 2020.
