Carla Beck, MLA for Regina Lakeview and former Deputy Leader of the Saskatchewan NDP has announced she is going to run for the leadership of the NDP.

She says a growing number of people are worried about the direction the province is heading and they are tired of the Sask. Party and Scott Moe.

She says she will work to show Saskatchewan residents that the NDP is “ready to govern and deliver again.”

In making her announcement Carla Beck was joined by former interim Saskatchewan NDP Leaders Nicole Sarauer and Trent Wotherspoon, who had both already publicly declared their support for her, as well as Regina University MLA, Aleana Young who added her endorsement.

She acknowledged there was work ahead but she grew up on a farm and was never afraid of hard work.

Beck says, “When I am leader, we will show Saskatchewan people an inspiring alternative to this government that has lost its way.”

The NDP announced is holding a convention in Regina this June to determine the next party leader after Ryan Meili announced he was stepping down.
