Two U of S women and a single Huskie male have found their way onto the 2021-22 Canada West Basketball Conference all-star teams.
On the women’s side, Saskatchewan forward Summer Masikewich ended up on the first team with guard Carly Ahlstrom on the second team. As for the men, Huskies guard Marquavian Stephens is on the second all-star squad. Both U of S teams are in action this weekend in the preliminary round of Canada West playoffs in Calgary. The U of S women, ranked first in Canada West, have a bye to Sunday’s quarter-finals while the Huskie men will see their first action on Saturday. 1st Team All-Stars
Canada West’s star-studded first team has representatives from each province, including four of the five top scorers this year.
Forward Summer Masikewich represents the top-ranked Saskatchewan Huskies, while Alberta’s Emma Kary and Fraser Valley’s Deanna Tuchscherer round out the honourees from the big three.
Winnipeg’s Keylyn Filewich earned her top-team title, with her teammates also getting spots on the second-team and third-team rosters. The league’s top point-getter, Fraser Valley’s Ashlyn Day, completes the lethal first-team combination.
These all-stars will now look to add “CW Champions” to their already impressive resumes. That work begins Friday with the 17-team single knock-out playoff tournament that will decide the Final Four.

Canada West announces its men’s basketball all-star teams
1st Team All-Stars
A group of veterans headline the first team this year, hailing from universities in each of CW’s four provinces. The perfect Alberta Golden Bears rostered two selections (guard duo Tyus Jefferson and Geoffrey James) while the near-perfect Victoria Vikes saw four honourees (fifth-year Scott Kellum, second-year Diego Maffia and rookies Ethan Boag and Elias Ralph).
Ben Hillis represents his third-ranked Regina Cougars while Grant Audu led his UBC Thunderbirds to fifth in the conference. The defensive-savy, versatile James Wagner (Manitoba Bisons) rounded out the top picks.
