Following community engagements, the Saskatchewan Drug Task Force has released a list of priorities they have been identified to help reduce the number of overdose deaths in the province.
The priorities that came out of the discussions include hotspotting (strategies to help people at highest risk in specific geographic regions), stigma reduction and trauma-informed services, community engagement and partnerships, coordination of services, and community drug alerts.
A news release from the province says the Drug Task Force will now work on developing a plan based on these priorities.
Minister for Mental Health and Addictions, Everett Hindley says “We recognize the urgent need to address addictions and overdoses in our province, and we are committed to finding solutions to meet these challenges.”
