Friday’s snowfall has been declared the sixth snow event of the winter for the City of Saskatoon. When a snow event is declared, the goal is to clear all the driving lanes over the next 72 hours on all the priority streets. This comes after the initial response to the snowfall, including grading overnight and sanding.

The highest priority streets are first, including Circle Drive, the expressways, arterials and routes to emergency facilities. The City says in a news release that city-managed sidewalks and pathways will be cleared within 48 hours. Removal of snow piles on priority 2 and 3 streets will be on hold until the snow event clean up work is done.

The Saskatoon Police Service reported Friday afternoon that officers had already responded to multiple accidents, including a multi-vehicle accident near the Circle Driver overpass at College Drive heading northbound. That has since cleared up.The advice from the Police Service is to slow down and allow for extra driving time, and extra stopping distance.
